What it can help with
Tesla Assistant connects to a Tesla account only after the account owner authorizes it. Available features can vary by vehicle, firmware, region, account permissions, and Tesla API support.
- Vehicle statusBattery, range, charging, climate, locks, openings, tire status, and other selected vehicle data.
- Charging recordsCharging history and available invoice documents for the authorized account.
- Everyday controlsSupported actions such as climate, locks, charging, charge limits, windows, trunk, Sentry Mode, and navigation.
- Owner settingsSupported naming, Valet Mode, PIN, speed-limit, and parental-control settings with additional safeguards.
How control requests work
Reading status is separate from changing the vehicle. When you ask for a supported command, the assistant first prepares an exact action for a specific vehicle. You review that action and confirm it before the service sends it to Tesla. Confirmations expire and cannot be reused.
Privacy and account access
Each person signs in with an individual identity. Household membership controls which Tesla connection they can use. Tesla credentials are stored encrypted on the service and are not shown to ChatGPT or other household members.
Precise location is separated from routine status and is requested only when the user explicitly asks for the vehicle's current location. The planned public beta does not include automatic commands or continuous telemetry.
Current availability
Tesla Assistant is operating as a private beta. The next release work includes self-service onboarding, account management, subscriptions, usage limits, support tools, and public review. Asking about access does not create a subscription or authorize a vehicle.
